Ingredients

  • Dough
    • 1 cup water (heated to about 100-110°F)
    • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
    • 1 tbsp sugar
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 3 tbsp oil
    • 2 1/2 cups bread flour
  • Topping
    • Butter (melted)
    • Garlic powder
    • Parsley
    • Salt and pepper
    • Parmesan (sprinkle on if desired)

Directions

  1. Add heated water, sugar, and yeast to a bowl. Let bloom for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add all of the dough ingredients to a bowl and mix to combine.
  3. Using the dough hook, knead the dough until it pulls from the sides of the bowl and it is smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover and let rise for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down dough, divide and roll into desired size for breadsticks. I usually do 8-10 sticks.
  6. Cover loosely and let rise for 20 minutes.
  7. Bake at 400°F for 16-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. While baking, whisk together the topping ingredients.
  9. Brush the topping on the breadsticks as soon as they come out of the oven (and sprinkle with parmesan if desired).
