Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 5 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • Creole seasoning
  • Garlic powder
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Pepper
  • 1/2 cup cold butter (grated)
  • 4 ounces cheddar cheese (grated)
  • 1 – 1 1/4 cup cold buttermilk
  • Heavy cream (to brush the tops before baking)
  • Butter + dried parsley (melted, to brush tops after baking)

Directions

  1. Sift together the dry ingredients.
  2. Quickly and carefully mix in the butter (you do not want it to melt) and cheese.
  3. Mix in 1 cup cold buttercream. Can add the additional 1/4 cup if needed, dough should be wet but not overly sticky.
  4. Roll out dough until about 3/4-1 inch thick. Cut out desired size/shape of biscuits.
  5. Brush tops with heavy cream.
  6. Bake at 450°F for 12-14 minutes, or until lightly golden and puffed.
  7. Brush tops with melted butter as soon as they are removed from the oven.
