Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 5 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- Creole seasoning
- Garlic powder
- Cayenne pepper
- Pepper
- 1/2 cup cold butter (grated)
- 4 ounces cheddar cheese (grated)
- 1 – 1 1/4 cup cold buttermilk
- Heavy cream (to brush the tops before baking)
- Butter + dried parsley (melted, to brush tops after baking)
Directions
- Sift together the dry ingredients.
- Quickly and carefully mix in the butter (you do not want it to melt) and cheese.
- Mix in 1 cup cold buttercream. Can add the additional 1/4 cup if needed, dough should be wet but not overly sticky.
- Roll out dough until about 3/4-1 inch thick. Cut out desired size/shape of biscuits.
- Brush tops with heavy cream.
- Bake at 450°F for 12-14 minutes, or until lightly golden and puffed.
- Brush tops with melted butter as soon as they are removed from the oven.
