Ingredients
- Sugar Cookie Bar
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup (16 tbsp) butter (room temperature)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp almond extract
- Strawberry Buttercream
- 3/4 cup (12 tbsp) butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 tsp lemon juice
- 1 1 ounce pack of freeze dried strawberries (finely crushed)
- 2-3 cups powdered sugar (depending on how sweet you want it to be)
- Milk (to thin the frosting, if needed)
Directions
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Beat butter with the sugar until creamy and light in color.
- Add the egg and egg yolk and the extracts, mix until combined.
- Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
- Press the dough into a greased 9×13 inch pan.
- Bake at 350°F for 12-15 minutes, or until turning just barely golden brown.
- While the cookie bar is cooling, beat all of the frosting ingredients together until is reaches the desired consistency and sweetness level.
- When the bars are cooled completely, spread the frosting on top.
