Ingredients
- 1 cup butter (softened)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg plus 1 yolk
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- Mixture of 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tbsp cinnamon (for coating the cookies)
Directions
- Whisk the flour, baking soda, salt and spices together until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, beat the sugars and butter together until creamy and light in color. Add the egg + yolk and the cream of tartar, beat until well combined.
- Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredient until just combined.
- Scoop the dough and roll into a ball. Roll the ball in the cinnamon/sugar mixture to coat.
- Bake at 325°F for 8-10 minutes. Let cookies rest on the hot baking sheet for 5 minutes before moving to a wire rack to cool completely.
